Terri is the mother of three. Her kids are all grown now and living happy and responsible lives of their own. Terri raised her kids in Granbury, TX and Tomball, TX. Both of these communities offered excellent schools and a country atmosphere that Terri enjoys. Terri still has ties to both towns as well as friends in both places.

As an adult, Terri has held a couple of different careers. Her first teaching job was with Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, TX. Her next one was as a teacher and reading specialist in Tomball, TX. It was while she taught that she became aware of the kinds of books children enjoyed reading. She also noticed areas in need of good children’s books. You will find many of her books respond to these needs.

Terri is very happily married to her best friend, Michael. Together, they live in Oakridge, OR with their black Labrador, Oliver. Terri and Michael enjoy traveling together, fishing, going to the movies, and, of course, reading great books. They have many good friends with whom they enjoy spending time as well.

Happy Father's Day, Mom! by Terri Kelley is an endearing story of a single mother rising to the challenge and doing everything that a father does at home. The book speaks about the struggles and joys of being a single parent and how they make the lives of their kids comfortable and happy. The boy in the story is very observant of what his mom does for him and he appreciates it in his own way, saying that his mom should be included in 'Father's Day' as she does everything that a man does effortlessly. The love and admiration the boy feels for his mother is captured beautifully in the story.

The theme is simple, but it states the realities of life and how single parents try to make it work for their children, making it look simple. Terri Kelley's books always have wonderful illustrations that liven up the story. This book also has colorful pictures that show the moments from the life of the boy and his mother beautifully. They also give movement to the scenes and breathe life into the story. It is a beautiful book that can be used as a bedtime story book and also for read-aloud and story-telling sessions in libraries and classrooms.

Every scene in the book shows the boy's admiration and love for the small and routine things his mother does for him. The book also conveys a lovely message that one needs a strong mind to succeed.
