Harp and the Lyre: Exchange by H. C. Roberts brings something unique to the table—a fantasy story that comes with music. Throughout the book, there are QR codes that let readers listen to fourteen songs, making the story even more immersive. The plot moves between different realms, where a powerful figure named Lore3 uses the voice of Lyre to control Earth Rishona, while Harp’s music becomes a symbol of hope and resistance for those fighting back. Meanwhile, five teenagers—Nash, Owen, Viona, Ezra, and Liberty—set out on a dangerous journey to Earth Kainos, even as war looms in the background. Over seven intense days, they face many things in the town of Novel and beyond, uncovering secrets, testing their limits, and learning that they each play a bigger role in this fight than they ever imagined. As they race toward The Exchange at Mt. Novel, they have to trust each other, embrace their hidden strengths, and figure out what they’re willing to fight for.

H. C. Roberts takes storytelling to another level by weaving music into the book in a way that is natural and meaningful. The songs aren’t just extras—they add to the emotions of key moments, making the world feel even more alive. The characters stand out too, with each of the five protagonists having their own journey that connects in a real and organic way. I especially liked the dynamic between Nash and Liberty. Their personalities clash at times, but that’s what makes their relationship so interesting. The themes of resistance, hope, and the power of music come through beautifully but never feel preachy. This raises deeper questions about justice and freedom, making it easy to connect with. The world-building is another huge strength, with each realm being fully developed. Overall, Harp and the Lyre: Exchange is a fresh and original take on young adult fantasy. If you’re looking for a story that goes beyond the usual tropes and offers something truly immersive, this one is definitely worth checking out.
