Hello Flutters! by Dr. Maria Grace Wolk is an enchanting children’s book that combines the adventures of Tala, a timid flying squirrel, with powerful lessons on overcoming fear and building confidence. Illustrated by Maru Plancarte, the story captures the imaginations and hearts of its readers through its vibrant depiction of Tala’s challenges. Tala struggles with the very essence of what makes him unique: his ability to fly. Despite his natural capability, fear holds him back, making each flying test a daunting ordeal. Dr. Wolk crafts an educational and entertaining narrative, focusing on Tala’s emotional journey and the psychological barriers that prevent him from achieving his full potential.

The book introduces the G.R.A.C.E Matrix®, a step-by-step technique designed to help young minds manage overwhelming feelings and embrace challenges with courage and kindness. This method is seamlessly woven into Tala's story as he learns to cope with his “fear-flutters” through mindfulness and perseverance. As the plot unfolds, Tala faces not only the challenge of flying but also the task of saving another squirrel in a perilous situation. This climactic moment serves as a turning point that transforms his fear into a catalyst for action. Dr. Maria Grace Wolk effectively illustrates the transformative power of confronting one's fears head-on. Hello Flutters! isn’t just a story about a squirrel learning to fly; it is a metaphor for the personal growth that comes from overcoming fears and stepping outside comfort zones. It is a heartwarming tale that encourages children to believe in themselves and inspires adults to revisit the unbridled hopes of their youth. Dr. Wolk’s book is a beautifully crafted blend of fiction and self-help. It will inspire children and parents alike, making it a valuable addition to any family's bookshelf.
