Hidden Medicine is a remarkable and coherent account of a psychiatrist and devout Christian who combines medicine and spirituality. This extraordinary doctor is Thomas McCormack, a faith-driven American who, after graduating in medicine and specializing in psychiatry, decided to treat mental illnesses through a method that reconnects people to their holiness. Spirituality is often overlooked by modern medicine, which focuses only on the physical symptoms of a disease. This doctor instead takes care of his patients not with mere biology and psychiatric protocols, but with Ruachiatry, a term derived from Hebrew and Greek words meaning “spirit and healing.”

In Hidden Medicine, Thomas McCormack connects the dots of his theories with extreme coherence and clarity in an evidence-based dissertation rooted in the Bible and science. The book introduces readers to perspectives that lead to unknown truths, such as the idea that our nature is composed of body, soul, and spirit. The latter is the dimension that allows us to get in touch with supernatural entities, which are heavily involved, according to the author, in the onset of mental disorders. The healing steps this psychiatrist applies aim to free our minds from demonic influences and bring us closer to God, the benevolent doctor who is the true healer. The demonic explanation for the origin of human diseases is intriguing and keeps the reader glued from the first to the last page of the book. As soon as I finished reading, I closed my eyes and saw a face resembling Christ. Mental illusion? Maybe. But also, a vivid signal that Hidden Medicine deserves to be read by everyone.
