How to Write a Book: Taking the Plunge into Non-Fiction and Conquering Your New Writer Fears and Doubts by Lauren Bingham is a guide for writers in which the author discusses how to write a non-fiction book. Lauren covers the topic using genres, like biographies and self-help books. She uses writing examples to help explain different techniques, such as how to show instead of tell. Lauren gives readers exercises to practice a skill and also gives extra resources. She talks about how to get motivated and also explains how to keep your mind and body healthy.
I thought that How to Write a Book by Lauren Bingham was very motivating and informative. Don't be deceived by the title; Lauren also has great information for fiction writers. I loved her sense of humor, which made this book much more enjoyable. I loved that she used her own writing as an example to explain something. I understood it better that way. I also liked how Lauren gave resources in the middle of the book as well as at the end. As someone who has osteoarthritis, thank you for one of those resources. I never would have thought to do that. I thought it was refreshing that she didn't say you need to 'show' all the time; her explanation made a lot of sense. I really loved the exercises; they were fun. If you are planning to write a book, no matter what genre, I highly recommend this guide. You will definitely be motivated after reading this book.
