Hulking Headaches by Chip Colquhoun and Korky Paul is a delightful book that tells two heartwarming tales. The first story, Huff Mctough, follows a princess who feels useless and unwanted in her kingdom until she helps a hairy creature named Huff untangle his knotty hair, leading to a beautiful friendship. The second tale, The Wrong Side of a Giant, tells the story of Tutumu, a girl who is always hungry and feeds a giant his stew every day. One day, she accidentally gets on his bad side when the plough she uses in the field breaks. However, this incident sparks an idea that helps Tutumu and her mother work together with the giant to overcome their differences and find a solution to their shared problem of hunger, highlighting the importance of teamwork.
Hulking Headaches is a well-written book with captivating stories that focus on themes of friendship, empathy, and finding one's purpose. The princess's act of kindness and the giant's newfound gratitude demonstrate the profound impact that small acts of compassion can have on individuals and communities. Through these stories, readers are reminded of the value of empathy, understanding, and appreciation, and are encouraged to embody these qualities in their own lives. By sharing these tales, the authors convey a universal message that kindness can bring people together, foster a sense of belonging, and create a ripple effect of positivity. The use of poetic narration by Chip Colquhoun and Korky Paul adds a musical quality to the stories, making them engaging and fun to read. The rhythmic flow of words creates a sense of momentum, drawing the reader into the worlds they have created. Finally, the colorful illustrations perfectly complement the stories and bring the characters to life. Overall, this is great work.
