I Am Me by Felicia L. Kenny is a lovely children's picture book. Jared is a young boy who shares the joy of being cool in his own way. He comes from a loving family of two parents of different backgrounds. Jared sees the world in a different, colorful way. He has already embraced being different and loves doing things on his own terms. He is happy that he can go to a school with kids like him who are also autistic. As an autistic and biracial person, Jared is aware that the world is full of people who are different in many ways, either culturally, socially, or physically. Thus, in this story, Jared shows that we all deserve to be accepted the way we are, not judged or treated poorly.
