I Will Love You Forever and Always by Sarah M. Thomas Mariano is a 24-page children’s illustrated story about the love between a parent and child, which in this day and age, of course, includes step-parents, grandparents, guardians, or anyone else who cares for a child and lives with them. It takes the perspective of a loving and committed adult who will care for and love the child throughout their lifetime, no matter what happens along the way. The illustrations are key to setting the tone of wonderful days (elephants and ice cream), not-so-good days (alligators and sharp teeth), and other kinds of days filled with all kinds of life happenings—both good and bad. It is a commitment by the adult to acknowledge that life isn’t easy, parenting isn’t easy, but they will always be there no matter what.
I love the illustrations and the beautiful words. The book will be a favorite to read at bedtime, during hard times, good times, and just about any time. It helps to cement the relationship between two human beings: the one who gives and the one who receives. The end of the book has a place for the reader to reflect on what forever and always means to them. I think this is especially important, as it helps to reinforce the love the parent has for the child. I Will Love You Forever and Always by Sarah M. Thomas Mariano is a must for every family’s library and comes highly recommended. Very enjoyable story.
