If You Were Me and Lived In...Peru (A Child's Introduction To Cultures Around The World Volume 12) by Carole P. Roman is a multiple award-winning book, including children's book awards and homeschooling blogs. The pages are richly colored with engaging pictures and interesting facts about the festive country of Peru. This is the twelfth book in the If You Were Me and Lived In... series and it remains one of my favorites. I appreciate how Ms. Roman presents her facts and data in such an interesting and fun way, engaging the child in the everyday lives of Peruvian children. As a mother and teacher, I know the importance of teaching diversity, and this book is a great first step. With keywords and a handy pronunciation guide throughout the book and at the end, this book is excellent for early graders as it is easily read and understood. I like these books! I believe that they are the perfect companion to social studies assignments.
