Perched on Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah, is a clandestine military base and a school where the National Security Agency keeps its unmatched Artificial Intelligence and Sophitria, a mysterious alien girl captured after seizing InfinET, Sophitria’s alien mother. Soren, frustrated with his progress in sourcing information from Sophitria, intends to use Gabriel and Princess Nemo, both long-time serving government agents who had taken a liking to the girl, to learn her secrets. He believes this will boost his chances of achieving his grand plan to dominate the world and acquire a form of immortality. However, when Sophitria accidentally overhears Soren’s evil scheme, she alerts Gabriel and Princess Nemo. The trio, joined by a seasoned military officer, must travel to the Middle East to find a powerful ancient artifact before Soren unleashes an apocalypse. Can they save the world? Find out in InfinET’s Shadow: The InfinET Cycle by Tom Milton.
If you’re looking for a sci-fi novel blended with adventure, suspense, and a backstory of the ancient world, religion, and mythology, Tom Milton's InfinET’s Shadow is a worthy pick. Milton introduces readers to a fascinating cast through prose that balances moments of reflection and tension with bursts of action. The evocative depictions vividly capture the backdrop. It felt like I was next to the characters as they navigated the Middle East, from Egypt to Oman. I not only saw the pyramids, among other beautiful sites, but also interacted with the people and culture on the pages. I found the historical and mythological details of the ancient Middle East intriguing. Clearly, thorough research went into this tale. The conversations were dynamic and revealed the cast’s conflicts, personalities, and emotions. As the heroes and villains clash in a race to acquire an artifact of immense power, Milton shows how technology can build or destroy the world, depending on the hands it falls into. While this book is a standalone, I highly recommend reading the preceding installments.
