Insta-Prophecy Hotline: The Prophecy of the Eye, the Cross, and the Obsidian Skull by B.V. Kingsley is a beautifully crafted urban fantasy with strong hints of Dan Brown and James Rollins, featuring mystery, myth, and powerful secret organizations like the Illuminati, and a prophecy involving the end of the world. A Templar Knight, Darius Benedict Cooper, has been on the hunt for the thirteen ancient Obsidian skulls for seven hundred years. But one of the skulls has eluded him and it happens to be the one that easily possesses people and that ends civilizations. Mackenzie, nicknamed Mrs. Quiet, might have thought it was a joke when she receives an Obsidian skull from Insta-Prophecy Hotline, but things get serious with a seer telling her that it’s her mission to end the world. And then comes the attack from the Illuminati, leaving her in a strange place with no memory of how she got into Edinburgh Castle. Readers are pulled into a whirlwind of action and narrow escapes as Darius and Mackenzie face all odds and travel the world to prevent a prophecy from being fulfilled. How much time do they have?
I love authors who tell me fiction and force me to believe it, and B.V. Kingsley is one of those authors. The story starts with action, and the suspense grips the reader from the very first page in the hijacked plane and doesn’t stop. There is ample proof that the work is well researched and it features anthropological details that enrich the narrative and make it more believable. The characters are excellently sculpted and explored with great depth, infused with a rare sense of humanity. The need for survival, the struggle to understand, and the missing piece in a complex riddle make Insta-Prophecy Hotline: The Prophecy of the Eye, the Cross, and the Obsidian Skull an engrossing read. Couldn’t put it down, even for a minute.
