It's In The Blood is a contemporary romance novel by Anastacia Hawkins. Sasha Kristiansen, a young woman in her mid-twenties, is devastated by her father Aksel's passing. In search of her father's journal, Sasha leaves California for a road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway and arrives in the small town of Bakery Bay. Sasha finds herself closer to her father, soaking up the Nordic heritage of the town, and meets June, whose sister Krystal was in a relationship with Aksel thirty years ago. As the days go by, Sasha begins to feel at home in Bakery Bay and severs all ties to her old life. She also develops conflicting feelings for two men, one of whom might be related to her father. What secrets did her father have? Will Sasha be able to listen to her heart like her father wanted?
A healthy mix of romance and drama combined with a dash of mystery makes It's In The Blood a delightful read for romance lovers. At its core, Anastacia Hawkins' novel is about a young woman's search for self-discovery, where she embarks on a journey to understand her late father better and carry on the legacy he left behind. This is the kind of book you want to read on a cozy afternoon during the holidays. Hawkins creates a vibrant cast of characters, and every one of them has a distinct voice and personality that leaves a mark on the reader. Apart from the main trio of Sasha, Dune, and Olav, I also enjoyed the secondary characters of June and Moonie. In conclusion, it's a feel-good story that will brighten your day. Highly recommended!
