Just Another Tuesday in Manhattan: A Journey of Discovery by Christopher Tradgett shows the wrongful things done to people who have no control over the consequences of what happens to them. During the 80s and 90s in Ireland, there were places called homes for 'wayward girls', the Magdalene Laundries, which were run by the nuns. These were workhouses where pregnant, vulnerable girls and women were held under lock and key and forced into unpaid hard labor. The main characters are Andy Jordan and Gino Bianchi. Andy was adopted by a couple in London. Gino was adopted and taken back to America. Both these characters are now living in New York.

In Just Another Tuesday in Manhattan, while walking to work, Andy is mistaken for Gino by a friend called Max. So starts the journey that these two boys, who grew up in totally different circumstances and countries, discover each other and find out that they are twin brothers. They take the reader on a journey of discovery as to how this happened: they were separated at birth, which causes them to start a search for their biological mother and to find out their history. Christopher Tradgett takes the reader on a light-hearted, yet soul-searching journey of the two brothers who not only discover each other but also an extended family. The end of the book is not what the reader expects, but it will make the reader sit up and take notice of how people handle difficult situations. Although the Magdalene Laundries were places of horror and one can never forget a wrong done to one, there are some happy endings. Thank you to the author for this delightful book; I enjoyed reading it.
