Enter the wild jungles of Borneo in Kalabatu: True Adventures and Misadventures with a Problem Primate by Jesse Hay. In this book, author Jesse Hay invites readers to join him as he recounts his time at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Searching for a change from the harsh Canadian winters, he finds an opening for a research assistant at the center. Jumping at this unique opportunity, he never could have foreseen the lessons and the extraordinary journey to come. As the title suggests, the story heavily features one orangutan in particular, none other than Kalabatu, the rambunctious instigator who hangs around the clinic most days. From the moment Hay arrives at the center, he shares a unique and unexpected connection with the inquisitive ape.
