Kiki Coto by Edward Avanessy is the story of a young lawyer, Richard, who commits his life to defending the underprivileged and disenfranchised and fighting against corrupt forces. He is also the reincarnated version of another man. Richard bravely goes head-to-head with criminal organizations made up of district attorneys, judges, and corrupt cops. One case, in particular, catches his attention. He decides to defend Gloria, a young woman wrongfully accused of murder. While highly organized criminal elements try to pervert the course of justice, Richard courageously stands his ground. He is willing to take all measures to win this challenging case, even utilizing Ayahuasca and divine intervention. Can he uncover the real murderer and achieve justice on Gloria's behalf before it is too late?

Kiki Coto is a crime thriller that will pull you into the storyline from the first page. Edward Avanessy highlights many relatable themes, such as family dynamics, fearlessness, spirituality, self-discovery, self-sacrifice, justice, and resilience. He also does a fantastic job of exploring many prevalent, modern-day social issues, like political immorality, unscrupulous law practices, and the obstruction of justice. The character development is intriguing and spot-on. Richard--the main character--reflects a vivid picture of the world around him from his detailed point of view. Avanessy does an outstanding job of examining the lives of the secondary characters and their shared connection with Richard and Gloria's case. The ending is wonderfully delivered, making this novel a compelling read. I recommend it to fans of legal thrillers.
