Killer (Episode 1 - The Killer Novella Series) by Olivia Howe is the story of Gwen, a cop on the trail of a serial killer known as The Doctor. He kills women and leaves a painted smile on their faces when he is done. After arriving at the home of the latest victim, Gwen spots him and gives chase. She loses him down an alley. Despite getting chewed out for it, Gwen is more determined than ever to catch this killer. The FBI has given them a deadline of six months, then they are taking over. Along with her partner, Gwen searches for clues to catch this psychopath and stop him before he strikes again.
Olivia Howe has written a real thriller with Killer (Episode 1 - The Killer Novella Series). Gwen seems like a good character and a determined one. The one thing that struck me as strange was the FBI giving a six-month deadline. That seems like a long time. I don't know the inner workings of the American police, but it seems like they would be ready to step in much sooner. I did think that Gwen was a passionate character with a bit of a competitive streak. She is determined to win, which is a great quality to have in a cop. The story is good, and I enjoyed reading it. It is listed as Episode 1 so I assume there will be more stories to come. I think it will do quite well on the market as there is a big fan base for police based procedurals and mystery thrillers.
