Killer Collector by Linda Guyan is a horror story. When her grandmother died, Paige DeWitt moved into her little house at the end of Greenapple Road. That house was next to a cemetery near to Wolf Lodge, an abandoned hospital. Paige and Grace, her best friend, open the basement, leading to a discovery that sets a chain of events in motion. Paige needs to find out what her gran’s secrets were, especially those in the “box of secrets,” and, as the mystery begins to unfold, Paige and Grace find themselves faced with Wolf Lodge and Greystoke cemetery. As they dig into the past, they come to the realization that their lives could be in danger. There is something very strange going on, and both the mystery and the danger deepen when Grace finds a note that her grandmother hid, telling her never to unlock the basement. What is going on in Greystoke Heights and can Paige and Grace find out before it’s too late?
Killer Collector by Linda Guyan was an interesting read. The story is definitely the most unique I have read in a while, with a twisting plot that leads to danger at every turn. The plot is laid out from the start as the book skips through the years, detailing events that lead to the current day. I must admit to getting a little lost to start with, thinking the book was jumping around too much but, once I got settled into it, the events all made perfect sense and everything, every chapter that is set in the past, is entirely relevant to those set in the present. The characters were developed very well, and the story is somewhat creepy, edge of the seat stuff that will, I guarantee, have you looking twice at the door to your basement! Terrific book, I really enjoyed it and I think any fan of the macabre, or horror stories will love this.
