Laser Hamsters Strike Back by John Hope takes young readers on a high-stakes adventure with Colt, a ten-year-old author and former hero of a bizarre alien hamster uprising. Now he’s long forgotten and ignored at a small-town book fair, struggling to sell his self-published memoir about the catastrophe he helped end. However, the action reignites when alien forces attempt to transform earthly humans into dog-like servants and turn Earth into a dumping site for trash. With only his duck-android sidekick Sammy, a couple of eccentric locals, and a pair of bumbling alien defectors on his side, Colt must once again rise to the occasion and this time weaponize some laser-eyed hamsters to save the planet.

John Hope sets the tone right away with a story that has laugh-out-loud humor, offbeat characters, and clever world-building. This will resonate well with middle-grade readers who love wild, imaginative stories. Readers will experience the awkward hilarity of misunderstood book discounts and alien award ceremonies gone wrong. This is one of those stories that delivers constant entertainment while still threading a genuine underdog narrative throughout. Fans of Captain Underpants, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, or The Last Kids on Earth will find a kindred spirit in Colt. He’s a relatable, self-deprecating kid who never gives up, even when the world seems to have forgotten his heroism. Laser Hamsters Strike Back is packed with quirky humor, wacky tech, and unlikely heroes. It promises a zany, satisfying ride for young adventurers and reluctant readers alike.
