Author Biography

Abbie Crank writes YA Romance with a dash of humor and a lot of heart. An incurable daydreamer and hopeless romantic, she's passionate about storytelling and all the fictional people who populate her books. She lives in a tiny town in Kentucky with her family and beloved cats. On the rare occasions she’s not working on her next novel, she enjoys gaming, listening to music, and discovering her next great read. LISTEN UP is Abbie's debut novel.

LISTEN UP is special to me because I wanted to be a songwriter before I decided to write books instead. It's also near and dear to my heart because it's one of the three books that made me think, Hey! I can do this! I wanted to write YA Romance for years but was convinced I couldn't. Ten books later (one published), I can finally put that notion to rest.

I hope you enjoy LISTEN UP. I have many other books and characters I can't wait to share with the world. Be on the lookout for future releases!

In Listen Up, Abbie Crank crafts a compelling young adult romance that delves into the complexities of teenage friendships, dreams, and personal growth. Sixteen-year-old Keres, a passionate musician, is determined to leave her troubled past and broken friendship with Ethan behind. Ethan, once her best friend, is now an aloof figure entrenched in his wealthy and popular social circle, seemingly indifferent to any chance of reconciliation. However, Keres’s world is turned upside down when she uncovers the true identity of a distressed caller on her favorite podcast. This revelation forces her to confront the past she had been trying to escape and reevaluate her feelings toward those she thought she knew well. The narrative is further complicated by a disheartening encounter with her music idol, putting her future aspirations at risk and challenging her resolve to stay true to her dreams.

Abbie Crank's novel excels in its character development and emotional depth, making it resonate strongly with readers. Keres is a relatable protagonist whose struggles with self-identity and ambition are depicted with authenticity and nuance. Her journey of self-discovery and the rekindling of strained relationships are handled with sensitivity, highlighting the intricacies of teenage emotions and the process of healing old wounds. Ethan’s character, initially perceived as merely a privileged and detached ex-friend, is gradually revealed to have hidden depths and vulnerabilities, adding layers to the story. The plot is well-paced, blending moments of tension and introspection with heartwarming interactions, making it a captivating read. Fans of YA romance will appreciate the exploration of second chances, the pursuit of passions, and the importance of staying true to oneself amidst the turbulence of adolescence. Listen Up is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of friendship and love.
