Little Miss History is a young lady who loves history and traveling. Barbara Ann Mojica tells interesting stories through her series of books tracing the travels of Little Miss History. In her book, Little Miss HISTORY Travels to The Battleship IOWA, Barbara shows pictures of the battleship and explains all the nooks and crannies. The battleship was known as “The Gray Ghost" and it served in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans during World War II. While showing readers the special suite for President Franklin Roosevelt, Barbara tells the story of how the President was in harm’s way during a drill with a destroyer. At the time of the surrender by the Japanese, which was accepted on the battleship Missouri, the Iowa was Admiral Halsey’s flagship. Iowa also served with distinction during the Korean Conflict.

If you like naval history, this book is for you. The battleship Iowa was a late entry into World War II, but it was essential in winning the war in the Pacific. Barbara Ann Mojica shares the tragedy of April 19, 1989, through the eyes of Little Miss History. It was a sad day in the history of Iowa. In Little Miss HISTORY Travels to The Battleship IOWA, the forty-seven crewmen who lost their lives in an accidental explosion are appropriately honored. The updates for this battleship are covered, as is her permanent home after her decommissioning. She is now the USS Iowa Museum, located at berth 87 at the Port of Los Angeles. The photographic tour of the ship allows young readers to imagine what life was like aboard the Iowa. Even adults who enjoy history will enjoy this book as they read it with their children.
