Loner-Style Justice, a novella by Mike Marsbergen in the style of screwball comedy, hits all the right spots in delivering a great story. Joseph Tugger is an unusually big but gentle guy whose mission in life is to solve problems, especially the ones where he finds himself being a catalyst, and to fight injustice in the world. And he is doing a great job of it. Tugger is on the brink of graduating from the Iowa State College of Applied Bookkeeping, Farmery, and Automotive Repair. His strong intolerance for injustice of any kind puts him on the dean’s radar. The dean seems to be involved in some strange events happening on the college campus. Tugger starts to investigate the bizarre occurrences that get him involved in all kinds of hilariously dangerous situations. Defending himself against assassins, oddballs, and unusually persistent brutes who are after him, Tugger is relentless in finding out the truth and unmasking the evil that hides among the students and staff at his college.
Mike Marsbergen’s novella packs a punch and delivers a hilarious story that offers great, fast-paced, witty dialogues between the characters, and entertaining punchlines that will make readers laugh. The structure of Loner-Style Justice is designed to connect the chapters in a funny way, almost breaking the fourth wall, which works well in building up the dialogue and characters' motives until the end. The author subtly gives a social critique of human relationships, the battle of the sexes, and life aspirations through farcical situations and physical comedy, showing life as a one big, battle-driven experience worth fighting for. Readers will have a blast with Tugger and his friends on this outlandish journey of discovery, friendship, and the search for justice.
