Lost Soul is an epic fantasy novel by Charles Carfagno. Since he arrived in the demon realm from the Place of Other, Tracs has steadily risen through the ranks to become the protector of Aradia, ruler of demons. But when Aradia goes missing out of the blue, Tracs is wrongly suspected by the Unholy Three - Aradia's demon children - as the one who had a hand in his disappearance. Fleeing for his life, Tracs arrives in the human realm, seeking a mystic sword that holds the power to stop the Unholy Three and, if necessary, even Aradia. Accompanied by a powerful demon named Dybbuk, Tracs enters the town of Redden to retrieve the sword. But instead, what he discovers is betrayal and bloodshed that will change the course of his life forever.
If you love stories featuring epic battles between overpowered characters, demons, and mystical weapons, Lost Soul is just the book for you. Charles Carfagno's worldbuilding is simply phenomenal. The story feels inspired by Dungeons and Dragons style role-playing games, and Carfagno seamlessly infuses that ambiance into his narrative. Tracs is the kind of fantasy hero everyone loves rooting for. He has a fleshed-out backstory that gives agency to his actions and adds inner conflict to his character, making him all the more compelling to read. The plot moves at a brisk pace, taking twists and turns that will keep readers on their toes. I had a great time reading this book. Fantasy fans and gamers will love this one.
