Love Twists and Knots by Jo-Anne Carriere is a truly delightful romance set amongst the sun, sand, and excitement of the French Riviera, and the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Genny is a Canadian sales rep who is holidaying with her girlfriends in the South of France. Her somewhat tipsy, joking proposal of marriage to a total stranger at a bar is met with both amusement and an underlying attraction. Rather than run, Nick invites Genny to join him on his yacht for a cruise around the local area. Inexplicably drawn to this man who so resembles the dream lover she had conjured up in her head, Genny is quickly drawn into a deep and meaningful relationship with Nick. But this is a holiday romance, and Genny must eventually return to Vancouver, her job, her cat, and her humdrum life. When she decides to take an enormous risk to follow the man who has stolen her heart, she does not realize what excitement, danger, and risk she is letting herself in for. The couple’s voyage to the Caribbean will be filled with unexpected twists and turns that will threaten the very perfect love they have found in each other.

I have always been a sucker for a good romance, and Love Twists and Knots fulfilled my desire for love, adventure, and intrigue all in one fast-paced, exciting story. Author Jo-Anne Carriere wonderfully weaves together the lifestyles of the wealthy with those who service their needs in their adventures. I particularly enjoyed the author’s descriptive prose that brings readers’ senses into play as they picture and even smell the beauty of the South of France and later the Caribbean. I appreciated that Genny and Nick were not young people still searching for their direction in life but were mature enough to understand the significance of their meeting and the value of their relationship. The romantic scenes were restrained but touching and moving. I respected that the author was not explicit in describing the couple’s relationship, and this definitely moves the story into the cozy romance category and a much wider audience. The dangers of undertaking charter work for individuals you don’t know and carrying cargo you are unaware of were amply highlighted in the narrative. This is an exciting adventure with plenty of secrets and subterfuge stitched together by a charming love story. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and highly recommend it.
