Glass artist, Amanda St. Claire has fled her hometown of Portland, Oregon, for Seattle, Washington and has been teaching at the Pilchick Glass School. Her not-so-nice boyfriend, Tom Webster, was killed and Amanda was falsely accused of his murder. Tom was cheating on Amanda and, worse yet, was involved in selling drugs illegally. Portland police detective Sam Richardson finds that one of Tom's girlfriends had set up Amanda for Tom's murder and he gets Amanda cleared of the charges. Sam and Amanda are deeply attracted to each other but she flees Portland, finding the gossip about her more than bothersome. Now that she is moving back to Portland, Sam is happy to help Amanda pack and is delighted to share hot and steamy moments with her in bed, but he is worried for her safety. Amanda has had numerous security system failures at her home and this concerns Sam. Then, Portland glass artist Eubie Kane claims that Amanda is stealing his ideas, but before he can do much, Eubie is murdered. Sam and Amanda believe that they've found true love with each other after they've both endured broken relationships, but can Sam protect Amanda from the dangers around her?

Author Peggy Bird's "Loving Again" is a delightfully well-written romance with lots of sex and a great story line as well. Sam and Amanda’s romance is steamy and plot surrounding Amanda's involvement with her former boyfriend’s criminal associates is a good one. Readers will enjoy Amanda, Sam, and all the other characters in "Loving Again" as they are believable and the dialogue among the characters is authentic. "Loving Again" will be read and adored by "romance" readers and also by readers in general as it's a good story that goes beyond just pages of lust and loving.

Sam Richardson, a Portland Police Detective, felt himself drawn to Amanda St.Claire, a successful glass artist, from the first time he met her. Unfortunately she was already dating someone. Then things got complicated. She was accused of murdering her drug-dealing boyfriend. Sam was the cop who finally got her name cleared but he had never found the right time to begin a relationship, that is until he is helping her get ready for a six month stay in Seattle, which he feared might become permanent. Sam visits Amanda in Seattle and convinces her to come back to Portland, to see where their relationship might lead. Once she comes home though, things get weird; someone breaks into her Studio twice, and she is followed. When two people are found dead, guess whose fingerprints are found on the gun?! It appears that someone is trying to frame Amanda for murder, again! When she gets a letter threatening to harm Sam she decides to push him away to keep him safe. Who is committing the crimes, and how does it involve Amanda? Will Sam realize what is going before it is too late?

"Loving Again" is a very well-written story that pulled me in because of the relationship between Sam and Amanda! The heat level between the pair was electric! Their relationship went from zero to ten in a flash, but it made total sense once we get the back story and know their history. Amanda and Sam were both likable characters. Sam wanted to be a protector, but I could totally understand why Amanda didn't want to put him in jeopardy. The author kept me guessing as to whether Amanda and Sam would actually get their happily ever after. Peggy Bird's descriptive writing not only brings the characters to life, but it is also rich in detail which allowed me to learn a bit about Glass Art. In addition to a sizzling relationship between the main characters, there is also mystery and suspense to keep the story moving along. As an animal lover I always get excited whenever an author includes a pet in the story and with this one we had Amanda's puppy Chihuly. While there are sexual situations included in the story, they flow quite well, and in all scenes the characters practice safe sex. "Loving Again" is a fast-paced contemporary romance, that also blends together mystery and suspense to make for a great afternoon read.
