Luna Rising: Luna Rising Series, Book 1 is a shifter paranormal romance novel for young and new adults written by Sara Snow. Ruby Saunders was finally in control of her destiny. She had a full scholarship to college and had only to find a part-time job to keep herself in food. She decided as she walked along the quads that she loved this campus. She loved the gothic buildings with their protective coatings of ivy, and the library was everything she could have hoped for. Books had always had a special place in Ruby’s life and had helped her survive to see this day. Sitting in this vast Victorian hall of books was the culmination of her dreams. Then she saw him. He was getting up from a table just a few yards away from her own. He was huge, with blue-black hair and sharply honed features, and she could tell just by the vibrations he was giving off that he was angry. Ruby was startled by the whispered comment behind her that Xavier Blackwood was one of those rich kids who had no interest in the scads of girls ready to sacrifice themselves at his feet. Natalie, the whisperer, had thought she was warning off the new girl, but Ruby really wasn’t interested.
Sara Snow’s Luna Rising is a fast-paced and original story about werewolves and the dynamics of shifter packs and their interactions with other packs. Her characters are well-defined and authentic, especially that of Ruby, Natalie, and Xavier. The plot is ingenious and apt to get those who are jaded from a few too many shifter stories to get more than a little excited by this new offering. Who is Ruby, really? And how could there be anything possible between her and Xavier Blackwood? And why can’t she just be left alone to get her degree and continue on with life? Snow gives you just enough answers and teasers to keep you both satisfied and looking forward to the next book in this series. Luna Rising: Luna Rising Series, Book 1 is highly recommended.
