The special bond that exists between a horse and its caretaker is not one to take lightly. Even a wooden horse, be it a carousel horse or a rocking horse, has feelings and demands respect and proper care. You see, horses have feelings too, and, as one very spoiled little princess finds out, being mean, nasty and inconsiderate will only get you the same treatment in return. There is magic in the majestic, noble beauty of the horse and it doesn’t need the fantastic wings of Pegasus to soar into the clouds.
Six enchanting magical stories will make readers, old and young alike, love this powerful creature even more. Angharad Thompson Rees's collection, Magical Adventures and Pony Tales Box set (Vol. 1 – 6), will charm even the most hesitant believer in the true magic of the horse. The stories are rich in metaphor and descriptive passages, and the young reader will quickly settle in to enjoy the fairy tale presentations which will both calm and soothe. And, like any good fairy tale, these stories, entertaining though they are, reveal specific hidden messages. First and foremost, the message is clear that we should all show respect, not just to each other, but also to these wonderful four-legged creatures.
And, if one believes hard enough, works with undying dedication, and wishes strongly enough, then one’s dreams can come true. The little cob pony discovered a passion for racing and he never gave in to the doubts of even the fastest racehorses around him. A painted carousel horse never knew the true freedom that lay beyond until a young boy opened his eyes. Another boy dreams of owning his own horse and it’s a dream he shares with a wooden rocking horse, one that he believes his father is making for a paying customer. Fantasies and horses are what dreams and wishes are made of. A charming read.
