In this captivating third book of the Eco Warriors series, author Carolyn Armstrong takes readers to the forests of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Mexico. Make Way For Monarchs follows eleven-year-old twin siblings Sierra and Sydney on their new adventure in El Rosario Monarch Reserve. Their mom is tasked with photographing millions of monarch butterflies during their annual migration from the eastern United States and Canada to spend their winter in Mexico. Sydney and Sierra soon discover the plight of the monarchs, with deforestation and illegal logging threatening their winter home. With Sydney's unique ability to talk with animals, the sisters must find a way to save the monarchs' habitat. Helping them on their quest are talking horses and an adorable dog. However, some dangerous people are standing in their way.

Make Way For Monarchs is an engrossing adventure for children that showcases the importance of wildlife preservation and the impact of climate change. What I love about these books from the Eco Warriors series is how author Carolyn Armstrong seamlessly incorporates messages about climate change and deforestation into the narrative while still keeping it entertaining and exciting. Young readers will definitely enjoy the talking animals featured in this story. The sisters, Sierra and Sydney, inspire hope and goodwill. They use their unique abilities to help the monarchs in their own ways. The plot moves at a brisk pace and is laced with mystery, intrigue, and adventure. The narrative also has plenty of humor and charm, leaving you with a smile on your face. It's a fantastic adventure for preteen and young adult readers.
