A vile and menacing spirit is threatening the lives of those connected with a suicide committed in the past, in the chilling supernatural mystery, Malevolent (The Paranormal Investigator Book 8) by Christopher Carrolli. After a night of vanquishing shadow walkers, paranormal investigators Tahoe, Susan, Dylan, Brett, and Leah are exhausted but jubilant. Nevertheless, their struggle is not yet over. Unbeknownst to them, before their demise, the shadows awakened a sleeping spirit bent on destruction. In the aftermath of the fight, Leah and Tahoe receive visions of Susan face to face with herself, and Brett sees dark energy entering her home. They understand the appearance of the doppelganger but the dark cloud in connection with it is confusing. The following day, the investigators hear another person has died from the influence of the shadow walkers, just before they were defeated. The victim is related to a case Susan had several years previously, one that had ended in suicide. Is her death somehow related to the anomaly? With the negative energy and the doppelganger haunting her home, Susan must find a way to survive while removing them. But what do they want? Her help or her soul?
Malevolent (The Paranormal Investigator Book 8) by Christopher Carrolli is an exciting supernatural mystery with extraordinary sleuths. This gripping book is far from your normal detective story; it has ungodly villains who are relentless and evil, and detectives who have paranormal abilities. The hair-raising plot is intense and thrilling, and even though it has five protagonists, the intensity doesn't lessen, and the storyline never swerves. Although this is the eighth book in a series, it is fairly easy to keep up with the theme. I recommend this series to everyone who loves stories with nightmare-inducing preternatural antagonists. They will not want to miss this book!
