Miranda's Magic by Don Maker is the story of fourteen-year-old Miranda Hutton who has magical powers, like moving things around her without touching them and starting a fire without a match. All these powers depend on her proficiency in science and Miranda hates science and experiments in the laboratory. With a science theme and experiments, this book will surely appeal to high school goers. The story is amusing and at the same time intriguing with a lot of weird happenings.

The story will arouse much curiosity while reading about the magical powers of Miranda. She will keep readers amused with her magical acts. The cake growing and spilling out of the oven onto the kitchen floor is one such incident that describes Miranda's powers. The pencil vibrating and hanging in mid-air leaves her parents bewildered. These strange happenings only take place when Miranda is around. The story is not charted along the lines of fear or horror, but it is more whimsical, with fantasy and a sense adventure put into it.

It is the kind of story that teenagers would enjoy reading. Many youngsters would like to do the tricks that Miranda can do. The story is lighthearted and has a lot of fun-filled moments. There are going to be more books in the Miranda series which I am sure will be a hit among teen readers.
