Mixed Business is a work of fiction in the romance genre with elements of suspense and drama and was penned by author Livvy Zoe. Written for adult audiences, the novel contains some explicit language, sexual content, and some moderate violence and gun violence. The story is set in the 1990s and follows the workaholic Nora as she aggressively pursues her rise up the corporate ladder and the perks that come with it. Whilst Nora’s career focus serves her well at work, it has left her lacking in her life outside the office. Contending with her intrusive family and friends, Nora is completely ill-equipped to face her growing romantic feelings for her new boss and the dangers in her future.
Author Livvy Zoe has crafted a highly engaging work of romantic suspense and intrigue for her readers, and one which most adult audiences will certainly enjoy. One of the things I liked about it most was the character development of Nora, who is a strong woman in her own right that firmly makes her own decisions. I enjoyed the fact that though she is tested and she has many strong feelings in the tale, she never just collapses out of character because of a man or a situation. This strength of character endears her to us from cover to cover, and it is a pleasure to travel through the atmospheric world which Zoe illustrates with excellent word choice and imagery. Overall, Mixed Business is sure to be an eventful and entertaining read for all romance fans.
