Do you keep your room tidy? Do you always put things away when you’re done with them? In Pria Dee’s Molly and the Lost Dance Shoes, Molly has a valuable lesson to learn about putting her things away. She has an important dance recital coming up, but she can’t find her red dance shoes. She certainly can’t participate in the recital without her special shoes. Where did she put them? She searched the house from top to bottom, asking her mother and brother for suggestions. The shoes were nowhere to be found. She reviewed her activities since she last wore the shoes, hoping that would help. It didn’t. What is she going to do now? She curled up in her bed and moaned in despair. She had so looked forward to participating in the recital.
Pria Dee’s picture book, Molly and the Lost Dance Shoes, is the second book in the Billy and Molly series. The story is told in simple language to help young readers with their reading skills. The plot follows Molly in her search for the missing dance shoes. The author presents logical reasoning skills as Molly tries to solve the big mystery. The illustrations by Tina Perko are bright, bold, and colorful to intensify the plot and help move the story along. Dialogue is used sparingly as this is Molly’s story in a journey of sorts. The big lesson to be learned is the importance of putting things away where they belong so you can find them again, and, of course, keep things tidy. A fun read.
