More to Life by Emily Camp is a young adult romance that follows Brynn, a college student, and two brothers, Levi and Noah, each of whom plays a pivotal role in her journey. It goes between the present and the summer she was forced to live with her estranged father after she was arrested. There, Brynn faces the tension of old family wounds, new expectations, and a lack of privacy that forces her to think about who she is and where she belongs. Her days are filled with the struggles of navigating her relationships with her family and Levi and Noah. She also needs to reconcile with her family while lingering choices loom over her. As the summer unfolds, Brynn discovers friendship, forgiveness, and possibility in unexpected places. The choices Brynn makes will shape her future, but will it be worth it in the end?
I found More to Life by Emily Camp to be emotionally gripping. What immediately drew me in was how honest and unfiltered Brynn was about her decisions, heartbreak, and attempts to rebuild herself. The writing doesn’t sugarcoat Brynn’s pain or the chaos of her family relationships, and that honesty made the character so authentic to me. One scene that especially stood out was Brynn’s confrontation with her father after discovering his betrayal. Her confusion and vulnerability leapt off the page, and I felt every ache and sting of disloyalty that she did. The unspoken tension between Brynn and Levi and Noah also felt genuine, never forced, with each awkward moment capturing the struggle between friendship and something more. This novel is about imperfect people finding their way, and I highly recommend it.
