Mr. Cat Meets Kitten! by Hannah Teakle is an adorable children’s story about a cat that is used to being the only fur baby his human needs. When Mr. Cat’s human brings home a kitten, he discovers that he has a bit of a problem with sharing his things. How is he supposed to like a kitten that loves his human too? How is he supposed to be okay with a kitten eating his food and sleeping in his bed? Why would his human bring a kitten into their home when he thought they were just fine on their own? Can Mr. Cat accept Kitten and all his quirky ways?
Mr. Cat Meets Kitten! by Hannah Teakle is an absolutely adorable children’s story that shows how hard it can be for one pet to adjust to the introduction of a new pet into the household. I love how Mr. Cat kind of snubs Kitten at first because he doesn’t want to share and how the kitten seems oblivious to the cat’s irritation. The story of an older pet and a new one getting used to one another is definitely something a child would enjoy, especially with the way Teakle explains the rivalry and jealousy. The illustrations are bright and colorful as they tell the story through pictures so that kids can easily follow along. I recommend Mr. Cat Meets Kitten! to anyone with children who like fun picture books that will help them learn to read. I hope that Teakle has many more books with important lessons in them for readers in the future.
