Killarney Traynor's Mr. Maybe by Christmas follows Cassidy MacLean, a woman struggling to navigate love and family pressures during the holiday season. After her best friend, Kayla, remarks on her picky ways when it comes to relationships, Cassidy is determined to find a date for her family's Christmas gathering. Her mission sends her on a series of terrible dates — from a fitness buff and an immature young man to a textbook narcissist — all of which she will never forget. Every cringy and funny moment causes Cassidy to examine singlehood in a world that places strict demands on people concerning love. When Cassidy feels an unexpected attraction to Cousteau, a handsome but married bartender, she must face who she is as a person and who she wants to become.

Mr. Maybe by Christmas is a romantic comedy that offers readers a close look at what modern dating is like, particularly for women experiencing social pressures to settle down. Cassidy’s tale is a powerful reminder that love begins with self-respect and accepting your real value long before others do. Cassidy is both flawed and intriguing. She embodies a woman, soon approaching 30, who feels compelled to achieve a specific lifestyle before a certain age. Her hilarious dating misfortunes, friendship with Kayla, and complex feelings for Cousteau were all well-written and filled with deep human emotions. The authenticity behind Killarney Traynor's writing made it hard for me to put the book down. Through humor and relatable moments, the author's message is as clear as day — the best relationship we can have is the one we build with ourselves. This book is a must-read for romance fans.

Treat yourself to a healthy dose of romantic comedy for the holiday season with Killarney Traynor's Mr. Maybe by Christmas. It's been a year since Cassidy McLean had a serious relationship. Determined to find herself a boyfriend by Christmas, Cassidy unwittingly joins one of those dating apps that promise anything other than romance and happiness forever. Predictably, she soon learns the perils of online dating. After a string of bad dates, each one worse than the other, Cassidy has no choice but to vent her frustrations at her best friend Kayla, her sister Renee, and the hot Viking bartender of The Speakeasy, who is (unfortunately) married. With Christmas just around the corner, Cassidy's hopes of finding Mr. Right seem unlikely. However, maybe there's a Christmas miracle just waiting to happen.

Filled with romance, drama, and a dash of Christmas spirit, Mr. Maybe by Christmas is the perfect book for contemporary romance fans. From start to finish, Killarney Traynor's narrative is laced with humor, wit, and lots of "chick-flick" charm. One of the highlights of the book for me was Traynor's use of messaging apps to illustrate how real-life conversations happen today via digital media. The meta-narrative element adds even more authenticity to the contemporary setting of the story. The lively characters are another compelling reason to read this book. Cassidy and her friends act and talk like real-life people in their twenties. I loved the dynamic between Cassidy and her friends and family. If you're looking for an entertaining romantic comedy drama, you won't go wrong with this book!

Mr. Maybe by Christmas by Killarney Traynor is a charming romance. Cassidy is dreading Christmas, and now that it’s only a couple of months away, she’s facing the holidays without a date. Not to mention she’s nearing thirty and has nothing to show for it in her love life, having gone a year without a single date. After a conversation with her friend Kayla, she makes an important decision: she’s going to find herself a date in time for her parents’ Christmas Eve dinner. Cassidy doesn’t need to find Mr. Right; she just needs to find a guy good enough for the holidays. She needs to find a Mr. Maybe. And with the help of her closest friends, including a charming and married bartender, she navigates the online dating world and sets up a series of dates. Surely, she can mine the chaos and find the perfect maybe, but will this keep her from finding the perfect right guy?

The rom-com vibes are immediate with Cassidy being scolded for being ‘too picky,’ which is a fun trope to set up the story. However, this conversation is the catalyst that lights a fire in Cassidy to bring a date to the Christmas Eve dinner. The concept of finding Mr. Right is popular in romances, but Killarney Traynor puts a unique spin on it by having Cassidy search for a Mr. Maybe. She isn’t looking to get married or settle down; she just does not want to be alone at Christmas, and this drives her to get out there to meet potential boyfriends. As she goes on some dates, Cassidy quickly learns that some end with a kiss-off rather than a kiss goodnight. Complications are a key aspect of romances, and Cassidy’s love life is full of one problem after another. These create humor and drama, and keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. Snippets of online conversations with her potential suitors create a modern element, but the story and the characters aren’t defined by this aspect. Even with the romantic drama unfolding, Mr. Maybe by Christmas is upbeat and lighthearted, making it an ideal read for those who want something entertaining. Anyone who enjoys romances or romantic comedies will definitely want to pick this book up, and it doesn’t have to be only at Christmas.
