Murder at St. Margaret by Lynn Morrison is the first book in the Oxford Key Mystery series. Natalie Payne has accepted a prestigious position as Head of Ceremonies for the University of Oxford with her first assignment already in motion as she plans St. Margaret College's autumn gala. Just as she's getting the swing of her new position, the chef is murdered and now, along with ensuring the gala proceeds without a hitch, she's also searching for a killer. The stray cat that follows her home suddenly starts talking and turns into a wyvern before her eyes. Natalie quickly learns why she was so perfect for the position; she's what the wyvern calls a prefect which means she contains the magic of Oxford. To catch a killer, she teams up with H, the not so cat-like wyvern, the Eternals that run the magical aspect of Oxford, and a ghostly assistant.

Lynn Morrison takes the alluring and in-depth history behind Oxford and adds another level of charm to it through magical and ghostly elements. Natalie is introduced to the mysterious underbelly within Oxford which brings its history and secrets alive. The plot is humorous and lighthearted with dialogue that's clever and moments that will have you laughing. Morrison weaves ghosts and magic by reworking the history of a leading college. Once the veil is lifted off Oxford, the college transforms into its own magical world with a cat that's really a dragon, enchanting Eternals, living paintings, and more. The characters are a delightful assortment with Morrison giving charisma and humor to each one. The lighthearted nature of the mystery adds to the enchantment within Oxford with happy moments. Every quirky touch brings out the charm and the humor that Morrison crafts so well. Morrison creates strong female characters that build each other up. Murder at St. Margaret is a delightfully cozy mystery that you'll want to snuggle into with a warm blanket and a hot cup of tea as you dive into this charming world that brings to life the magic of Oxford, delightful characters, a cat-shifting dragon, and ghosts.
