    Book Review

Music of the Alamo is an awe-inspiring book, and the CD that comes with it is like icing on the cake.  William R. Chemerka and Allen J. Wiener have thoroughly researched the era.  The photographs are amazing.  In the Introduction, Phil Collins calls himself “An Alamo Freak.”  He is not the only one that looks back at that time in history with curiosity.  The Alamo has always enthralled me.  Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and Susanna Dickenson are just a few of the heroes of the bloody battle.  I had no idea the Alamo was immortalized in so many songs.  The CD that comes with this book is filled with a small sample of the music and lyrics that remind of us of the legend.  My favorite was “A Parting Kiss.”  No review can do justice to this incredible book; you have to see it for yourself.
