Mutated Files by Rachel E. Croxton is a thrilling tale centered around eighteen-year-old Carol Tyson thrust into a pulsating adventure. Carol's daring journey begins after she discovers a mysterious poster of a man in her attic. Interestingly enough, her mother has warned her not to enter the attic for undisclosed reasons. But Carol, driven by curiosity regarding her father's suspicious disappearance several years ago, enters said attic and finds the poster. Unknown to her, this peculiar item is a time portal of some sort, capable of teleporting her into a dystopian future filled with zombies, mutated beings, and a malevolent force more diabolical than any evil she has encountered in her life. Carol's father may very well be the only person who can stop this impending doom from occurring. But can she locate him in time, or will she suffer defeat?

In Mutated Files, Rachel E. Croxton draws readers into a terrifying and exhilarating dystopian universe brimming with surprising plot twists and an engaging storyline. With dangers lurking around every corner and a tense atmosphere, this captivating sci-fi tale regales readers with a narrative that expertly blends genres like drama, suspense, and time travel. As Carol explores the future world filled with horrifying monstrosities, she gradually begins uncovering more details about her lineage and her father's disappearance. She becomes determined to unravel his backstory and role in the catastrophic events culminating throughout the story. Croxton does an exceptional job of using the main character's riveting journey to portray and explore themes of self-discovery, resilience, good versus evil, family, and self-identity. Fans of character-driven zombie stories like World War Z and The Living Dead will love Croxton's gripping take on zombie fiction.
