My Furry Little Brother Weathers His Fears by Nikisha Rabess is the second of the Furry Brother Adventures Series of Law and Khat. A boy named Law finds ways to help his feline friend, who he adorably refers to as his furry brother, named Khat. They sometimes go outside to experience the fun of feeling the rain while they splash in puddles, listen to the strong wind, or bask in the warmth of the sun. And if things get a little severe, they just safely play inside the house and create a distraction to make it less unsettling. Thanks to the patience, tolerance, and inventiveness of Khat's close buddy Law, he eventually overcomes his fears. The book also features activity pages to color and some puzzle games found at the end of the story.
My Furry Little Brother Weathers His Fears is a cute rhyming story to help kids overcome their anxieties and fears of specific weather changes. It will also enable kids to have a better understanding and appreciation of the various weather conditions and see their positive aspects. Author Nikisha Rabess uses adjectives that complement the visual cues in the book and action words that give the plot movement. The story is written using simple language, clever rhymes, and amusing personifications that mimic the sound and behavior of weather patterns, which makes it a good read-along book, especially for the pre-school age. Young readers will also enjoy the cute, colorful, and charming illustrations by Mahnoor Ali. Overall, the picture book entertains, educates, and teaches young readers not only about the weather but more importantly how we need to be caring understanding, compassionate, and creative when it comes to helping others overcome their fear and anxieties.
