Mystery at Mirror Lake by Myra Galloway is the story of a small town, Mirror Lake, in North Carolina, that has piqued the interest of two gentlemen from Istanbul, Turkey, Mr. Amjad, and his accomplice, Mr. Sommeren. They have decided to lease a 300-acre hunting ground from the mayor of Mirror Lake, Henry, and display some Turkish antiques in the local art and antiquities gallery that Helen will soon open. However, something about Mr. Amjad and Mr. Sommeren bothers the new sheriff of the town, Denton. His gut tells him everything does not appear above board with these two gentlemen from Turkey. With his extensive experience in the police force while living in New York and after the 9/11 terrorist attack, Denton always trusts his gut. As Denton starts investigating, he discovers he is right and sets out on a dangerous mission to prevent another terrorist attack in America.
Mystery at Mirror Lake by Myra Galloway is a layered, heart-warming, and stimulating story that details the plans of the local sheriff’s office, the FBI, and special forces to prevent a possible terrorist attack in America. Although the main story appears to be a potential terrorist attack, it runs alongside a lovely romance between Helen and Denton. After losing his wife to the 9/11 attack, Denton now finds new love while possibly having to fight another attack. This imminent danger is juxtaposed with the opportunity to love again amidst the trauma he has lived. Mystery at Mirror Lake is an appealing story that I enjoyed reading.
