Author Dennis Blue has crafted a heartfelt and emotional work of non-fiction with plenty of sage advice and spiritual guidance to offer readers. One of the features I found particularly impressive about this piece was the author himself and his attitude to the twists and turns that led him from the busy life of an executive to the quiet idylls of fishing. This is a metaphor for the tranquility Dennis Blue purports and achieves within his writing, and it is a sense of peace that many readers will undoubtedly want to learn how to achieve. The advice and guidance given alongside Blue’s anecdotes provide practical and straightforward help, intending that you start small and stick to the plan until positive progress slowly tips the scale. Dennis Blue has lived a fascinating life and has chosen to share his experiences in Need Direction? Ask God. Dennis shares his experience of God's leading influence in his life. He was a Ford Executive sent to Venezuela for several years. While there, he ended up as a missionary pilot helping New Tribes Missions with their work in the jungles of the Amazon rainforest. We also learn about Dennis’s connection to the deadliest crash of a DC-9-30 in history. Five spiritual principles govern Dennis in daily life: prayer, purpose, perspective, passion, and patience. Following God’s lead took Dennis around the world (literally) and into many new adventures. If you like true-life revelations, then you will love this book.

This book was difficult to put down as I often wondered what would happen next. Need Direction? Ask God is Dennis Blue’s life story. More importantly, it is the story of how God led Dennis along the path to bring glory and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ. Dennis draws on stories from his career with Ford and its various divisions around the world. After retirement, Dennis shares his love of fishing and the metaphors he extends from that as he continues his work for God. He writes in a delightful style that holds the reader’s interest. Dennis shares information that will enlighten the reader and show them how to honor God in their life's work. Dennis writes in a style that will make you feel like he is sitting in his easy chair in the living room, chatting with you about his many adventures. This book is both a blessing and an inspiration.

We all need strength and assurance in times of doubt and uncertainty. A fundamental purpose in life, that much-needed direction we all seek, cannot ensue if we do not find ourselves facing challenges that either make or break us. Sportfishing guide and author Dennis Blue hopes to make a connection with you and help you find your own direction in his Christian non-fiction book, Need Direction? Ask God: Five Biblical Principles for Turbulent Times. An automotive executive turned fishing captain, Blue recounts how God helped him to find his way through life as he narrates his fond memories of traveling as well as his own share of tragedy that involves family members in a plane crash. He lays out the five basic principles of prayer, purpose, perspective, passion, and patience, and how they influenced his professional life. Hopefully, these principles could also influence yours.

As God has given us the capacity to exercise these given principles, Blue promotes and swears by them. For most of us, these principles are not understood and are consequently not used to their full advantage. Blue’s life experience can serve as your blueprint and proves that you can receive the blessings of these principles rooted in age-old concepts. Blue humbly admits that he has a steep learning curve as a writer, but his narrative has the crisp and clear simplicity that anyone searching for a spiritual compass can relate to. Accordingly, Need Direction? Ask God may well be part of the ministry he has been looking for. He commits to true-to-life storytelling that can well be described as heartwarming, dedicated, and focused. While this book may not inspire everyone to exercise the principles that he has been practicing, I prefer to give it a try with an open mind and heart—because this book opens its doors to everyone who wants to try, and it is worth reading.

Need Direction? Ask God by Dennis Blue is an inspirational and faith-filled work that focuses on five life-changing biblical principles. These principles are prayer, purpose, perspective, passion, and patience. Through Bible verses, photos, and personal stories of his life, Dennis illustrates these principles clearly. From working as an executive in the Ford Motor Company to starting his charter business, Dennis has experienced things that most of us never will in our lifetime. His successful career is a huge inspiration, but Dennis also discusses the tragedies that have shaped his life, including the death of his in-laws on a plane crash in Venezuela. Despite having his fair share of problems, Dennis powers through and shows readers how these principles have guided his life.

Ever felt like the challenges you face might break you? Need Direction? Ask God is the right book for you as it offers reassurance and guidance during tough times. When I first read this book, I fell in love with the author's honesty in saying that we might not always like the answers we get from God. Dennis Blue taught me that even though I may not understand why something has happened in my life, I should continue to have faith in God and believe that He wants the best for me. I also found it easy to follow Dennis's personal stories as they are written in chronological order. I admired Dennis for leading by example and showing exactly how he practices these principles in his daily life.
