In No Conventional Miss, a Regency romance novel by Eleanor Webster, Amaryllis Gibson is an unlikely debutante. She favors fact over fashion, cares not for "proper" conversation, and is haunted by ghostly visions which could land her in the madhouse! Marriage is definitely the last thing on Rilla's mind. But when she is caught in a compromising position with Viscount Wyburn, suddenly she finds herself betrothed! And worse, his powerful presence only increases her visions. By shedding light on the viscount's past, can Rilla gain his trust and win him round to her more unconventional traits?
A light romantic romp, No Conventional Miss by Eleanor Webster makes the perfect read to satisfy fans of Regency romance. Amaryllis "Rilla" is the typical spunky heroine, her love of invention turned into an endearing quirk. Paul, the Viscount Wyburn, seems a bit taciturn at first but only because, just like Rilla, he's burdened by secrets from his own past, a past that only Rilla can help him recover from. There is also the villainous Jack, whose schemes and constant conniving threaten the delicate balance of Paul and Rilla's blossoming relationship.
There are also quirky humorous characters like Paul's stepmother who is always full of charming observations and offhand remarks. She is a hoot!
No Conventional Miss is Webster's debut novel and hits all the right notes for the genre, and is great for anyone looking for a simple foray into a simpler time. A quick read and a nice addition to anyone's romance addiction.
