Numagician: Awake The Memory Wizard Within by Fususu is probably the most unique book I’ve read this year. The basic premise of Numagician is that you can remember long sequences of numbers by visualizing certain pictures and making longer stories out of the images. The book starts off with a story about losing money and remembering the serial numbers on the bills. This sets up the book and what is ahead for the reader. The author explains the process after that, advising the reader how to use their imagination to remember number patterns. Also explained are ways to connect images to themes, using things like humor and exaggeration. There are other memory methods as well, such as learning to use repetition, how to memorize playing cards, and how to use the MP3 formula. The reader will also learn methods to break bad habits and release old memories.

The method in Numagician was interesting, and for the reader who wants to put in the time to remember the images, it will be quite beneficial. After completing the book, I did remember most of the number images from 1-10, and a few that author Fususu used in repetition, such as the 69 image. I suppose this proves the point about learning through repetition! It will take a lot of memorization to recall all the images in the book, but through tracing the images as shown, it should be easy for most readers interested in the theory. Somewhere toward the end of the book, the method clicked, and I understood it completely. The author had a positive, happy tone throughout the book and included many little stories here and there. For these reasons, I recommend the book to those looking to improve their memory, particularly with numbers, through the Numagician method.
