On Deck: Memoir of a Life Well-Lived is penned by author David Del Bosque in the memoir, drama, and slice-of-life genres. This is a candid and moving exploration of triumphs, challenges, and self-discovery. From his humble beginnings in Alice, Texas, to the sun-drenched beaches of Santa Monica and the close-knit community of Avalon, Del Bosque's journey is marked by extraordinary resilience. Born into a limited English-speaking household, he faced hurdles from a young age, including leaving school in his senior year. Despite setbacks like unemployment and a heart attack, Del Bosque persevered, finding solace in unexpected places, like his loyal shelter dog.

Author David Del Bosque holds nothing back when crafting this profoundly moving memoir, and it’s a journey that left me inspired and uplifted despite the harrowing challenges he faced. Del Bosque's storytelling is honest and poignant, offering readers a glimpse into the highs and lows of his remarkable life with a candid but warm sense of storytelling that feels as though you’re hearing from a dear old friend. His journey from adversity to resilience is sure to move readers with similar hardships in life, reminding us all of the power of perseverance and having faith in things turning out better. The exploration of love, loss, and the search for meaning felt authentic and heartfelt, I loved the dialogue and character touches where the author was describing other people (and pets) who had impacted his life for the better. Del Bosque's unwavering optimism and determination to find joy in life's darkest moments are truly inspiring and we need more of it in this world. Overall, On Deck is highly recommended for memoir fans as a captivating and unforgettable read.
