One Angel's Opinion by Barbara Grover is a very interesting novel about how angels interact with both God and humankind. It follows several angels, the most important being Lucifer/Satan and Auroran, a scribe, as they watch God create the physical universe and then populate it with humans. The book walks you through Creation, the rebellion, the fall, and ends shortly after the flood. The reader is able to enter into the world of angels and receives a delightful peek into the thoughts of angels. It also shows how one angel can make a difference with dramatic consequences. Reading it is a joy and you will never look at the first few chapters of Genesis in the same way ever again.

For the most part, this is a very intriguing and interesting work of fiction. One strength is that it stays true to the biblical account. It is quite clear that Barbara put a lot of thought and research into this novel. Her work is very thorough and any Christian would enjoy this work. However, that being said, it was difficult at times to keep track of all that was going on. The book is overwhelming with characters, some of which got mixed up in my mind as I read. I enjoyed the overall story, but would have enjoyed to delve deeper into the minds and lives of the angels themselves. The reader gets a great sense of the big picture, but the smaller stories inside are kept hidden. I do believe that as Mrs. Grover writes more in this series, she will reveal more of the personal aspects of the angels as well as the human characters. If you enjoy biblical fiction, this would be an excellent series for you.
