Immerse yourself in an eclectic collection of poems with Party Animals. Penned by Ethan Heusser, these poetic narratives touch upon some vital issues affecting humanity today. After a visit to the art museum, the narrator has a crepe for lunch and wonders why there is bacon in it. A son returns home to discover a shocking truth about his parents' farm. In an attempt to understand the chaotic nature of the world, the narrator turns into a conspiracy theorist. A husband and his wife share their dreams, only to realize they have no control over their lives. The apocalypse is inevitable, and it will be our descendants who will suffer the slow decay of the world. The narrator describes the lengths they will go to ensure their dog lives forever.
Poignant and thought-provoking, Party Animals is a captivating poetry collection that leaves you with a lot to contemplate. The book is divided into three parts, with each part focusing on different topics related to society, politics, religion, and the world. Ethan Heusser's poetic storytelling may feel a little surreal and abstract at times, but after reading for a while, you find yourself completely engrossed in the artistry and depth of these verses. There were some poems that I was deeply invested in, while I felt a few others left things a bit ambiguous and up to the reader's interpretation. Through these poems, Heusser delves into themes and topics fundamentally entwined with our real world. I think this collection will appeal to a broad range of readers because of its universal themes. If you're a poetry lover, definitely grab a copy!
