If you want to be more focused and in charge of what goes into your body, gardening is one way to do this. Gardening offers several benefits for optimum health depending upon the land, water, and plants that you consider for your gardening odyssey. In Permaculture Gardening for the Absolute Beginner by All We Need Publishing and Josie Beckham, you will learn historical facts about permaculture gardening, why Bill Mollison coined the term permaculture, and to look at gardening from a different perspective using the permaculture concept including potential drawbacks to consider. The reader will learn what it takes to be creative in developing a permaculture garden. A permaculture garden is created organically using nature. For example, during Fall there are a lot of fallen leaves. Why not use those leaves for building your compost? Once you begin to utilize the permaculture gardening concept, you will see that nothing is wasted. Your garden can be in your home, on your windowsill, on your wall, on the deck, or in your backyard. The choice is yours. In this book, you will be taught some nuggets for building a sound environment, how to create a foundation for your garden to thrive, and how to begin a healthier lifestyle.
I loved reading Permaculture Gardening for the Absolute Beginner by All We Need Publishing and Josie Beckham because when I would go walking as a kid, I would see berries and wonder how they got there; regardless I would eat them and enjoy how sweet and juicy they were. No one personally planted those berries that I ate but there they were. As Josie points out, things happen in nature organically. This is the same with a permaculture garden where you will begin to understand the importance of allowing your garden process to flow naturally with minimal effort from you. Once you set the ideal conditions for your garden to thrive, considering the type of soil you have, your hardiness vs. permaculture zones, type of herbs and plants that you require, it is best to journal your process. With these factors in place, your garden, just like nature, will take care of itself. As a novice gardener, to see my harvest gives me a feeling of accomplishment and it is such a pleasure to taste the freshness in my foods. Whether you are a novice like me or an advanced gardener, this book is an ideal resource.
