Author Biography

Olha Valeriivna Smulska was born in 1994. From early childhood, she discovered the power of words — writing poems in nature, under the song of birds and the murmur of a stream or river. The forest was her inspiration: its fairytale beauty, the rustle of leaves, and its mysterious inhabitants created a special world she longed to preserve on paper. A notebook and pen were always nearby — ready to receive new lines. Nature heals and inspires creativity.

In 2023, she wrote her first book for her daughter — “The Magical Tale about Princess Dominika.” It is a warm and sincere story in which the real events of the little princess’s birth come to life. The idea appeared during pregnancy — a magical and deeply creative time in a woman’s life.

Later, the author turned to a theme loved by both adults and children — stories about pirates. Thus, her new work was born: a dynamic, captivating, and fantastical novel unlike any other. She dreams that this story will become as beloved by readers as the legendary “Pirates of the Caribbean” combined with “Fast & Furious,” and believes that one day someone will bring this tale to life on the big screen.

Author Olha Smulska takes readers on a time-traveling action-adventure odyssey in Pirates of Bermuda in New York. In the 1600s, Helga was born to the captain of the pirate ship named Shadow. Over the years, she formed her own crew and sailed the seas, gathering all sorts of treasure for her fellow Bermudians. In the year 1700, pirate captain Tempest and his crew discover a way to travel to the year 2025 in New York City. After finding a welcoming host in the form of a man named Den, Tempest and his crew become aware of New York City's underground street racing scene. They ally with the "asphalt pirates" led by Black Smoke and begin stealing items that will aid them in their quest during the 1700s. However, Tempest chooses to remain behind while Black Smoke joins the Bermuda pirates.

Imagine if the Pirates of the Caribbean met the Fast & Furious franchise; you would probably end up with something like this. Add a dash of time travel adventure, and you're in for a wild rollercoaster of a ride. Filled with action, humor, and plenty of charm, Pirates of Bermuda in New York is an absolute blast to read. You never know what to expect from this book. Author Olha Smulska has created a fascinating world of old-school pirates and modern street racers that is not only captivating but also lots of fun. This is one of the most entertaining action-adventure novels I've read all year. The plot is completely unpredictable, while the characters are quirky and compelling in equal measure. Whether you like fast sports cars or old-school pirate sailing ships, this is the perfect book for you!

Pirates of Bermuda in New York by Olha Smulska is an imaginative adventure that smoothly combines the past with the present. The story starts with Helga, a young girl born into a pirate family in the 1600s. The novel takes readers on an exciting journey as Helga and her crew face the challenges of the high seas, including storms, battles, and the hunt for treasure. The story takes an unexpected turn when the pirates are transported to modern-day New York City through a mysterious prophecy. The contrast between 17th-century pirates and the busy, neon-lit streets of a modern city creates a unique and engaging storyline. The inclusion of historical portraits of real-life pirates adds an educational layer to the narrative, offering readers a glimpse into the Golden Age of Piracy.
