Jeremy Fudge wrote Pursue the Exceptional to help individuals motivated to lead or who are thrust into leadership roles. Drawing from information learned from books and experience, the author found ten common principles that have been repeated for centuries. He outlines each principle with how he learned and applied it, illustrating the topic's appearance related to growth, and connecting the key point back to a principle in the Bible. The author presents examples through personal experience and supplies suggestions for implementing the advice. Fudge sums up each chapter by explaining why the topic is important, the difference it could make in your life and the lives of those around you, and how you can apply it daily.
There are endless books on leadership, but Jeremy Fudge has read most of the important ones and can tell you the key points echoed through them. He hasn't just read about leadership; he has lived it. He isn't a stranger to hard work and his accomplishments during his education, law career, journey to equity partnership, and leadership in a top-rated firm are outstanding. As a reader, it's nice to learn from individuals who have "walked the walk", and Fudge has definitely put into practice everything he suggests in this work. Without pushing Christianity, he draws parallels between notable points in the Bible and their modern application and underlines the most important nugget of wisdom in each section. Even if you aren't in a leadership role yet, you have much to learn from this book, and readers who hope to gain clarity on their direction in business and life will benefit from Pursue the Exceptional.
