Rats in a Maze is a work of fiction in the science fiction, mystery, and intrigue sub-genres, and was penned by author Peter Bailey. In this fascinating conceptual read, we find ourselves in the world of Detective Ray Fisher, closing another case on what he thinks is a day like any other. But when Ray discovers he has memories of things which never happened and soon finds himself suspended from the force, so begins a surreal investigation into what the truth really is, and who’s in control of it. The work is written for adult audiences but contains only a few moderate uses of explicit language and some non-graphic sexual scenes.

Author Peter Bailey has created a fascinating thriller novel that will be sure to entertain fans of conspiracy fiction, crime dramas and science fiction thrillers alike. One of the things which impressed me most about the work was the inventiveness of the plot events, which are well-paced and take readers on some very surprising twists that you wouldn’t expect at the novel’s outset. This is definitely a book to stick with, populated by characters which grow on you with every trial they face, and some really rewarding solutions to the mystery once all the threads of the story come back together. I also enjoyed the author’s narrative voice, which was slick and entertaining, but also brought us closer to our hero and gave great empathy to him. Overall, I would certainly recommend Rats in a Maze to anyone seeking a thought-provoking and engrossing new ride in fiction.
