Stress is a normal response to many changes and challenges, so both children and adults can feel overwhelmed by their busy schedules. It is fundamental to learn how to take time out for yourself and to clear your mind. Recharge Time by Marielle Lamothe shows children how to relax in different ways. The story features Claire, a girl who is always busy. She has to do homework and help with housework, so she tends to use a lot of energy. Luckily, she has her friend Mr. Watts to help her recharge. They unwind together by sleeping or lying on the grass to rest. They also take advantage of the available time with games like singing and dancing because these activities are entertaining ways to recharge energy.
Children must learn to regulate their energy. I liked Recharge Time because it teaches an essential lesson in that resting and rebuilding energy doesn't necessarily mean being static. You can also relax while you are playing. Marielle Lamothe uses a variety of examples and suggests activities that help stimulate creativity, such as painting or reading. All the suggestions are suitable for promoting self-control and boosting confidence. In applying these ideas, children will be able to develop methods to relax and reduce anxiety. The story is easy to read and has colorful illustrations. This is the perfect book to teach children how to have the energy to enjoy the day.
